Jackie Chan Battles a Sci-fi Monster in ‘Bleeding Steel

Maybe it’s just time to cancel all other movies coming out.

Jackie Chan, older but no less badass than he was in his prime, is back to save the world from an immortal enemy in director Leo Zhang’s Bleeding Steel, an upcoming sci-fi/action film that I’ve already fallen completely in love with. Lionsgate is billing the film as being “reminiscent of ‘80s techno-sci-fi thrillers,” which is all the more reason to love it.

After all, it’s freakin’ 64-year-old Jackie Chan vs. a mecha-enhanced villain!

In Bleeding Steel, “Chan stars as Lin, a police inspector in modern Hong Kong. While tracking down a deranged, mecha-enhanced villain, Lin discovers that a geneticist’s lost bio-chemical invention has been surgically implanted into his missing daughter. With the help of a young hacker, Lin connects the dots between the device that haunts his daughter, his enemy’s sinister army, and a strange cultural phenomenon called Bleeding Steel.”

The film will be released in theaters and on demand by Lionsgate Premiere on July 6.
